Our Story

Like most other close-knit families, our extended family always has get-togethers on holidays and other special occasions.  As the members of our family continued to increase through marriage and birth, it became more and more difficult to fit everyone within a single family's living space.  This is a problem that many large families struggle to solve, but Joyce knew exactly what was needed.  Our business started as a small venue for our family functions and was a perfect solution for our needs, but Joyce chose to seize the opportunity to develop the business for public use.  She's always had an entrepreneurial spirit, and she knew that an elegant venue to host small to mid-sized events was much needed in our community.

As we searched for a name for our business, we considered several options, but one name in particular really identified what we wanted out of the venue.  We wanted it to be a source of "Good Times" for not only our family, but other families as well.  We want you to leave Good Times on 29 with a smile on your face and love in your heart, and think fondly of the event you had there.

Let us host your special events and parties, and we know you'll say, "We had a good time at Good Times."

Our Logo

For those of you who are unfamiliar with our family, you may wonder about the two people whose photos are included in the Good Times on 29 logo.  The first is Tomaras Deveridge, son of Tommy and Joyce Deveridge.  The second is Will Green, son of Eva Green.  Both of these young men passed away unexpectedly and much too soon.  We chose to include them in the logo because they exemplified everything that Good Times on 29 stands for.  They were the life of the party and beloved members of the community.  We love and miss them dearly and have memorialized them in the logo so we'll always think of them when we're having "Good Times on 29."

 Meet the Team

These individuals are critical to our success.  They are the backbone of our operation.

Paw Paw & Grandma

Tommy and Joyce Deveridge

Founders & Owners

Tommy and Joyce Deveridge are the founders and owners of Good Times on 29.  Joyce has been the owner and operator of Joyce's Print Shop for 20+ years.  She is also a retiree of the Troy City School system, where she climbed the ranks to become the Chief Financial Officer.

If Joyce is the brains of the operation, then Tommy would definitely be the brawn.  Tommy is a retiree of Troy University, where he worked in the maintenance department.  He has a knack for fixing things and enjoys working with his hands.  He does a great job at keeping the building in top-notch condition for our patrons to enjoy.

Tommy and Joyce are the parents of Tomaras (deceased) and Toni, and they are the grandparents of four boys — Jordan, Jaylen, Mason, and Kasen — and two girls, Willow and Stoni.  Being with family is their favorite pastime.

Eva Green

Eva Green Harvis

Manager

Eva Green Harvis serves as the Manager of Good Times on 29.  She has been a great asset during the development of the business and the renovation of the building.  Eva spent twenty-five years working in the Art Department at Troy University and in 2003 she retired from the University as an Art Curator.  She also served as a Board Member for the Troy City School System from 2011 to 2021.

Eva is married to Cleven Harvis and is the mother of Will (deceased) and Rod.  She devotes her spare time to helping others, including her mother, Maysie.  She loves spending time with her family, especially her great-nephew, Mason and great-nieces, Willow and Stoni.
